Equatorial Restaurant(贵都海鲜楼), Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

Dinner at Equatorial Restaurant which served Non Halal food.

Not much to say, just photographs to complete the post. ;)

- Equatorial Restaurant (贵都海鲜楼) -

Food served was okay, some of it were salty. Especially the Pork Knuckle, salty but yummy!!

- Stir Fried Crocodile Meat -

I like this one. Taste like chicken with tender meat texture.

- Spinach with Salted Egg and Century Egg -

For the first time I had such this kind of soup alike vegetable served in a huge bowl/ plate.

Steamed Fish and Signature Tauhu -

Their signature tauhu may not be the best from what I have tried before.

- Pork Knuckle -

It's crunchy!!

- Mango Pudding -

* Slurp! *

- Coconut Pudding -

I like dessert and those were nice!

【沙巴游】 亚庇 - 旧街游 Fun in Sabah : K K Heritage Walk - Bond Street & Dunlop Street (Gaya Street), Sabah Tourism Building and Australia Place

Continued our KK Heritage Walk from Malaysia Monument and North Borneo War Memorial.

We walked to the first street in Kota Kinabalu - Bond Street and Dunlop Street, which been renamed to Gaya Street after our independence.

Standing at the other end of the Gaya Street (Formerly known as Dunlop Street). We listened the history of Bond Street and Dunlop Street explained by Grace Leong.

And after that, WE WERE GOING TO HAVE TREASURE HUNTING TIME!!

Translation : Weekly Street Fair at Gaya Street. Only on Sunday from 5.30am to 1.00pm.

Gaya Street will turn into a Street Fair whereby sellers will be selling different kind of things from foods, coffees, fishes, toys and more! Non the least souvenirs for tourists to bring back to there country. Is a must go place for tourists when they are in town during the weekend. And the whole city area will be crowded with locals and tourists.

- Gaya Street -

When we walked further, we shall see the two blocks of shophouses built in the 1950's  which still remained the same. And normally, my mom will go to few of the shops there to purchase her Chinese New Years goodies which supermarket does not sell.

- Jesselton Hotel -

Everyone of us participated the treasure hunting and we gathered together at the lobby of the Hotel after we found the TREASURE! The first person who found it must run quickly to the hotel which located the  forefront of Gaya Street (the other end) of Gaya Street and tour guide will be waiting for us there and the winner will got him/ herself a souvenir! (I got my second stamp here!)

- Lunch at Bella Italia -

A another hot topic in town! Read my post about my Cozy Dinner at Bella Italia!

Gaya Street is like a park-like area where a lot of old shops and hotels are there and the roadway are different than others.

Furthermore, Jesselton Hotel was the first post-war modern hotel located in Dunlop Street (Gaya Street) and luckily it's still there and well maintained by the owners. The hotel have an image of premier "boutique" hotel with a colonial environment. For guests who stays in the hotel, they will see staffs who wear colonial attires and there is a English Cab as a transportation which still working parked in front of the hotel!! Besides, famous person includes Pope Paul II and boxer Mohamed Ali was staying there before.

We walked further and our next place will be -

-  Sabah Tourism Building -

It is a Historical Building which was formerly The Post Office/ Bank building before the war and Sabah Tourism Board (STB) moved into the building on 10th November, 1990. Visitors who have queries about Kota Kinabalu and Sabah may drop by to STB to ask for assistance, the counter  personnel will assist you on all your queries.

I got my third stamp at Sabah Tourism Board!! And one more to go!

After we have completed visiting to STB, we went off and walked a few street to the next heritage.

- Kota Kinabalu Community Centre -

Located at Australian Place. We reached one of the old building built 1958 which used for many historical events and have been refurnished to a better one.

Saw the amazing wall with beautiful photograph above? (The gate was closed and I can't take a nice photograph with it.) It's "The Story of Kota Kinabalu" which formerly known as Jesselton. Saw the white building at the left? It's our current Sabah Tourism Board and Kota Kinabalu is built on reclaim land in the olden days. It's amazing how K. K. evolved when we think if it.

- Historical Kota Kinabalu Community Centre -

It's history was written on it. Must read it when we have the chance!

- Australian Place -

Where the Australian Liberation Forces used the site for their camp when they landed in 1945.

Walking around Australian which only have two buildings. Now a days, we can see most of it are printing company and backpacker lodge. Thus, we have no idea why there's many printing shop there when we been asked. Maybe... a nice location for them??

When we walked to the other end of those building, we shall see an Army patterned building.

And we shall wait for my next entry about KK Heritage Walk!

Stay tuned!!

 Till then...

Rice Wine Roll from Restaurant Syn Syn (新新茶室), Inanam, K. K., Sabah

Note : The Rice Wine Roll has been moved to Damai.

As usual, my Saturday will be free and going to my mom's shop to help them out. It won't be busy the whole day and sometimes went off to go for shopping or assisting groups of tourists with THP

By sitting here doing nothing now, its better to write something that I had and found it quite tasty for a tea session during afternoon or evening time.

Tits bites from Syn Syn Restaurant, KK Taipan, Inanam. Those tarts and other tits bites selling there are originally from Sandakan, where all the good food can be found!

- UFO Tart (RM1.20) -

- Rice Wine Roll (RM1.20) -

Those tarts were bought by Meatball and it's UFO tart a.k.a "Cow Dung Tart" 牛屎挞 in Chinese which looks like cow dung but in yellowish yummy cream. And Rice Wine Roll with Chicken Filling!

Those tits bites selling there are freshly bake daily, which is a good thing and even though both of the tarts and roll are left for a while and not served hot, the Rice Wine Roll still have wonderful taste for a person like me who ‎♥ food to be served hot. :P

It's hard to explain the location of the restaurant. It's located at the same row with KFC with an ordinary design of typical coffee shop. Besides, I saw they serve Wild Boar Rice too! And wild boar are called Sinalau Bakas in local language! Bear in mind when you come across the word while having trip in Sabah! ;)

KK Taipan, Inanam, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

OMG! Man Made Egg! Fake Eggsss!!

It's such a hot topic lately.

Beware of fake eggs!

Such a shame on those useless people! Saying "It's only man made food!"

Here's some videos I shared!

This even tried to do a fake eggs in front of the TV show!

I felt like a Sucker after I watched Sucker Punch. =_="

The music in it was sexy and nice to listen.

Graphics was great, girls was pretty, but the story board was confusing and sometime pointless and make us feels like SUCKER. *sigh* Was hoping friends to leave the cinema in the middle of the movie, but it cost us RM10.00 for the ticket. (What to do? Just complete the movie and we leave the cinema feeling sucks.)

Few of us were watching the movie last week which one of my sister friend who told them that the movie was GREAT and I'm confuse with the indirect meaning of the movie while the movie goes on.

Suddenly, it's like a Ninja movie. Suddenly, i Robot. Suddenly, they were in to war. It like 3D. I don't know.

I agreed with the imagination Baby Doll imagined. But, how come like that?

However, in the end it make us realise that we should do great things and strive for the best in life. Do what we have to do and so on...

Another Concept Restaurant by boston (又一城茶餐室), Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

Went to Boston to have a try some time during last year.

( Hehehe :P I'm soOooo inefficient.)

- Another Concept Restaurant by Boston -

Meatball told me that their Hot Almond Drink with Egg was nice after she went there with friends.

Actually I saw bad comments about the services and food provided at Boston whereby the food served was cold and food served not that satisfying.

- Almond Drink with Egg -

Meatball told me before that the drink was great, smooth with the egg stirred together. In facts, after I had my cup of Almond drink with egg and they have theirs for the second time, it's disappointing.

- Char Kway Teow -

Was hungry and tried their noodles. Hmmm~~ It taste so so only, nothing interesting much.

Boston, not that cool for me and no more second try till now.

Location :

Karamunsing Capital, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Cozy Dinner at Bella Italia Restaurant, The Jesselton Hotel, K. K., Sabah

Me and meatball (my elder sister) planned to pay for the bills for the dinner with our parents at Bella Italia the other night and that would be my first dinner at the cozy restaurant.

Located at down town of Kota Kinabalu, we could see the Restaurant is with the same building of The Jesselton Hotel. Heard by words of mouth from friends that Bella Italia are getting better now a days and read their Facebook Page that they planned and held happening events there. Furthermore, the environment and food served was great since the restaurant has been renovated.

All kinds of new concepts events and parties are held there and it's makes me wanted to go there for a try!

- The Logo of Bella Italia Restaurant -

It's raining outside while we were having our dinner.

Remember my entry about Earth Hour 2011 which I posted? Just click the Italic font and you will enjoy it like I did on 26th March, 2011. :)

Oh yea~~ Before I forget, there's another point that make me and my sister wanted to go there for dinner was the 50% Pizza and Pasta from 5.00pm to 7.00pm!

- Golden Dream -

Had it for the first time, I think it have a mixture of Orange Juice, Alcohol and others. It was toooOoo sweet!! Me no like, me add plain water to reduce the sweetness.

- Pizza with selected toppings -

We chosed Pepperoni (RM3.00) and Vegetables (RM2.00) which both of them cost differently. Besides P & V, they offer other toppings too! Prices for toppings are based on our selection.

- Pasta -

I love pasta! We had Beef Lasagna and Linguine for the night and shared among us. Both of the pasta was yummy with cheese and beef. *Slurp**

- Beef Linguine -

- Beef Lasagna -

Once I bake Lasagna for my family and T's family to have a try... It taste good but I failed with the white cream that I wanted to do myself and in the end, I think I bought white cream sauce from the supermarket and added it to the home made Lasagna. :P

To have the original flavoured pasta, of course we have to go to the Italian Restaurant to have the best one.

- Hainanese Chicken Rice -

My dad does not favour Italian food with flour and he had Hainanese Chicken Rice which is one of the recommended dish of the Restaurant. The Chicken Rice taste great and it's taste similar with the one that my mom had it during her 20's or 30's. :D

The surrounding of Bella Italia Restaurant. Looks and feel comfortable sitting there, try imagine drinking a cup of coffee and cakes or biscuits there. Mmm~~~ Lovely feel!

Dinner for the night cost about RM150 for four of us.

Satisfying dinner indeed. ;)

By the way, they serve lunch too! Go there to have a try when you are in town!

Jesselton Hotel, #69 Jalan Gaya,

【沙巴游】 亚庇 - 旧街游 Fun in Sabah : K K Heritage Walk - Malaysia Monument and North Borneo War Memorial

Continued our journey from Independence Field and Atkinson Clock Tower.

For most of us who born in Kota Kinabalu, we do not have such an opportunity to understand more about our town. Furthermore, we only passes by and would not purposely drive to those places to take our photographs  and we only can understand more about them with tour guides and parents who explain and talk about their experience to us.

We passed by Gaya Street, the famous Sunday market which only crowded with sellers that selling cheap items, artistic things, souvenirs etc only on Sunday (A tourist spot must go).

- Malaysia Monument (马来西亚建园纪念)-

Malaysia Monument is to commemorate the Independence of Sabah and the joining of the Federation of Malaysia on 16th September, 1963. In other words, Sabah was independence on that  day and it's still in our heart. My parents told few of us sisters that when they were a child, they witnessed the celebration on that day and same to other parents who born years before.

It's located next to our City Council building. Grace Leong explained to us about the Monument and the Chinese Phrase that written from right to the left. In the olden days, Chinese phrase were read from the right to the left and we noticed that the same Chinese writing from right to the left are still hanging on the sighboards at few of the old shops in town.
 The next destination -

We walked to our City Council  and listened about the the past until today. It was formally called Sanitary Council which first started by Atkinson. Besides, we were lucky that we have the FIRST STAMP from the City Council on our guide booklet as a remembrance for K K Heritage Walk on Saturday (weekend), which the City Council only operates during the weekdays (five days works!). :D

- North Borneo War Memorial unveiled on 8th May, 1932 -

It's located at the opposite of City Council building. It was to commemorate the 13 soldiers who lose their lives our of the 79 from North Borneo who enlisted in the British Forces during World War I. Such a sad and touching real stories that I listened from Grace Leong, she manage to meet one of the Soldier who came to Borneo back then during her trip at oversea. I guess that's why she's passionate about our K K Heritage.

- The Memorial at Dunlop Street before unveiling on 8th May, 1932 -

- In memory of those men who sacrifices for Borneo -

- In memory of those men of The Australian Armed Forces -

Three plaques was added on three side of the Memorial.

A phrase to be remembered - "Your Sacrifice, Our Heritage".

Continued my K K Heritage on the coming post.

Till then...

Dinner at Yu Kee Bak Kut Teh (佑记肉骨茶), Jalan Gaya, K. K., Sabah

Was having dinner together with my family and their business's friend at Yu Kee Bak Kut Teh last Sunday.

Like the old times, they still serve the best Bak Kut Teh in town! Even though, it's been so long since my last visit.

Customers was packed even it was 6.00pm and all of the workers hired are Indonesians all this years, except the owners who are Chinese.

The sad thing was their service were not as efficient as before. We were requesting for soup refilling from few of the workers, yet they let us waited for a while and brought only a small bowl of the soup.

The dinner cost around RM115.00, depending on what we had and includes refills for 8 of us. :)

Slurp slurp** Yummy Bak Kut Teh!

Location:

It's opposite The Jesselton Hotel.
74, Jalan Gaya,
88000 Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

When Majolica Majorca meet Kate!

Hello Majo! Hell Kate!

;) *wink*

Bought both of the brands make up products from my shopping last week! Few of them have good deals too!

Majolica Marjoca's offers lovely & sweet as candies colours that catches my eye!

BTW, the mascara above is my second Majo's mascara since the previous one (Lash Expander Frame Plus - with fibers) almost ended it's life before Lash Enamel Glamorous Volume (Watson - RM45.90) became another baby in my make up box. Application of the mascara defines my eyelashes even better than some brands and in a great way just like the blue colour sticker shown on the box! NON SMUDGING makes me wanted to stay with it.

Jeweling Eyes, eye shadow looks gorgeous in shimmering pinks and purple!

And the new series of Sugary Trap is gorgeous too! Just like barbie and candies!! :)

And Kate offer eye shadows that are more cool and darker in colour and nail colours are easily applied.

I love both of them when both of their colours could keep their colours on since morning or for the whole evening! Shimmer shimmer I like.
