When RFA Lyme Bay (Ship) came to Liverpool

Liverpool - Visiting to RFA LYME BAY (2008)

It was weekend, checked through the small booklet of Liverpool Cultural Year events and decided to pay a visit to Mersey Ferry Terminal!

It is a big ship that provides logistic support to military operations, that carries a military force of 356 Royal Marines and up to 135 crew & augmenters.

- RFA Lyme Bay -

"RFA Lyme Bay (L3007) is a Bay class auxiliary landing ship dock (LSD(A)) of the British Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA). Ordered from Swan Hunter in 2000, the ship was launched in 2005. However, cost overruns and delays saw the shipbuilder removed from the project, and the incomplete ship was towed to Govan for finishing by BAE Systems Naval Ships. Lyme Bay entered service in late 2007; the last ship of the class to join the RFA." - Wikipedia

- The Crowds -

Unexpected walked in and queued with other visitors.

- Incident Board -

There's a crew explained during our in board tour from inside to the above the deck.

I'm not interested much in ships but no harm to listen and broaden our view. By the way, I met a person (one of the crew) who looks like Tom Cruise! Quite good looking tho

- Ai yay Captain! -

- Liverpool!! -

The view of Liverpool was magnificent from above the deck. Strong wind was blowing and somehow I could feel the cold air while typing now. :/

- Army, Weapon and Me! -

- Lambanana -

Another Lambanana spotted at Mersey Ferry Terminal!

- Beautiful Liverpool -

I always love this view. :) My heart felt calm when I look at it. Beautiful weather and place. :)

- Maritime Performance -

We were lucky to see their performance and we even took some photos with them! :)

Well, UK definitely the best time of my life while furthering studies, especially on the same year as the host of European Cultural Year.

Life in Liverpool - The City and Street Performers

This is Liverpool city where I have been living once upon a time.... Year 2008 to be exact when Liverpool as a host to European Cultural Year.

There were all kinds of musical events and happening carnivals at the City and everyone felt blessed to be there. :)

 - The Banner at Lime Street -

- Buildings -

I do love the Roman/ European architectures designs and always will be. Refurnished listed building are always in my list and I'm amazed with their effort to maintain the buildings even after so many years of history. Should I say, maintaining the heritage?

- The High Street/ Shopping Street of Liverpool -

One of the most busiest and happening street on daily basis. I remember I always walked through those stores after classes and shopping at H&M, Primark, Chocolates Stores etc. People are nice over there.

And most of the time we will see talented street performers in town. Some even sell their CDs to earn for their living.

- Street Performers -

I'm not sure should I name them as Red Indians? I love their voice and the music played by their musical instruments, the pipe and more.

Licking ice creams, eating hamburgers while walking and even enjoying the warm coffee while walking in town. Gosh.

- Scottish Performer -

They said we have to paid them some tokens as an appreciation for their effort, but I think I didn't for this case.

- Handicap but great guitarist -

- Street Dancers -

I always been amazed by the artists/ street dancers on the TV screen and by enjoying their talented skills, jaw drop in a way.

- The Gold Man -

He even waved his hand to us. :)

- Beer anyone? -

It's only afternoon, and European here love to drink almost the whole day. -_-

So, that's the life of a bit of Liverpool and of cause shopping and eating street food and live like a European sometime.

Okay, that's all for today and I'm gonna chase time to meet up friend! :)

A walk at Liverpool Chinatown - 利物浦唐人街

I remember the days when we were walking down the streets of Liverpool.

Approximately 30 minutes by foot from Marybone to our University and it was time for keep fit as well. My jelly belly became firm although it was kind of long distance walkway, as it seen, why not we treat it as a morning walk exercise. :D Those were the days. :)

- The same pathway for 3 months -

For that 3 months back in Summer, 2008, we normally walk by foot to the nearest stores and shopping areas in Liverpool, cab rides were expensive for us and only once I had paid for after our farewell dinner. Other than the walk and the cab ride, long distance buses and train rides were the usual once to visit those interesting places far from Liverpool City.
So, one day I agreed with my friends to go to Chinatown to buy some Chinese groceries! Instant noodles and some preserved bottled foods for sure. :)

- Piece of art -

I found out that the cat painting was interesting outside that abandon shop.

A short walk passed out University and we arrived Nelson street where Liverpool Chinatown is located.

- The Ceremonial Arch -

As I have been understood, Liverpool Chinatown is the first established Chinatown in Europe. I never knew it was the first in Europe until I read their website.

- The Ceremonial Arch -

The landmark of Chinatown Liverpool and I think that similar crafted arch are built in every Chinatown throughout the world! I love the Ceremonial Arch concept, it represent there's Chinese every where. :)

- Liverpool Chinese Gospel Church -

That's the main entrance of the Church at Chinatown.

- The Street at Liverpool Chinatown -

- Various stores in Chinatown -

I'm not sure why seem like the whole street was silent and not many people walking, I wonder were we early when it was 12.00 in the afternoon or the crowd normally came during the night?

- An Essential Photo Shoot with the Landmark -

There's a few Chinese Supermarket there and from one to another we went for groceries shopping. Instant noodle say Korean Kimchi Noodle were one of my favorite, I found out that Maggi brand instant noodles selling there are with the same price as the Korean Instant noodle.

So, that my walk at Liverpool Chinatown. :) Those were the days...

Amazing visit to The World Museum of Liverpool that Summer

It was norms to visit the museums while we were studying at oversea and especially when there's no entrance fee required at Liverpool, England.

From what I could remember, the museum was huge and consist of 5 floors of information about the past and present. Each floor has it own category - (G) Information Centre, (1st) Bugs and Marine, (2nd) Ancient and Culture, (3rd) Extinct Creatures and (4th) Astrology. We visited one floor to another and it took us almost whole day for that visit. Impressive and informative for the public to know more about the world.

- The World Museum -

The nearest place and easier to know is the World Museum located nearest to Lime Street Train Station.

Mean while, a few of us visited World Museum on a Saturday back then (2008)! Cool weather after the rain, I just miss that some time.

Overall impression was good, however as usual, I love to learn and understand more about culture and living creatures on this earth. Astrology wasn't my interest. From Bugs and Marine level, I learned some of the creature such as the cycle of one kind of red ants towards their life and other living small sized bugs as well.

If in the future we could have the chance to visit European countries or any other countries, we shall spend some time to visit their museums (provided time is flexible for us), their museum just incredible with all kinds of information that everyone should know about.

Me and "You Never Walk Alone" with Anfield - Liverpool Football Club!

A tour to Liverpool Football Club (LFC) while I was furthering my studies in UK (2008).

Once again, another trip by LJMU's Student Union that cost us 11 pound inclusive of ticket price and transportation fees and this time we had the opportunity to visit the famous LFC that Gerrad played for.

- Bill Shankly statue located outside LFC museum and Club Store -

I still remember that, it was quite a waste when I did not have the time to tour around when I was actually arrived at Old Trafford, Manchester United, Manchester, UK. However, LFC is located approximately 15 minutes away from LJMU, why don't I just buy the ticket and visit. :) In fact, I had set my foot in Liverpool and what am I waiting for! (Sound adventurous)

- The Overview of Anfield Stadium -

Our coach leaved at 1.30pm from University and the tour started at 2.30pm.

- Trash Bin sponsored by Carlsberg -

- The Field -

We entered from players' entrance and toured in the Stadium, I was amazed with the green grass that they have well mowed grass. For your information, there's rules for us as visitors to be followed - WE ARE NOT ALLOW TO TOUCH, TO STEP ON THE GRASS! If we did it and been caught, the whole tour will be suspended and stop immediately.

 - Welcome to Anfield and it's 3.15pm -

Our tour leader explained the background of Anfield Stadium to us in such a way that so much interesting while tourists like us were sitting at the players seats and opponents seats. *Excited*

- The way they care the field -

 - The old public seats without pillow -

The above are the old seats without pillow. Imagine if we are sitting there to watch football match, I think my butt will be so much flatter than now!

- The new seats with pillow -

Comfortable seats that were uplifted with pillow during later years.

Furthermore, seats for medias, broadcasts and other important parties have been well divided among public seats to get the best photographs and broadcasting purpose.

- Players changing room -

I smell sweat of players. (lol) Those are genuine players jerseys and we were so much excited to take photos with players we knew. :) After touring in their changing room, the washroom (-__-) and etc, we went to LFC Museum and Club Store!

- Liverpool FC Trophy Room -

I saw nothing but trophies and the above were only a little portion of them. Glad that they have such a recognition internationally in football world.

- Interesting animated drawing -

- Trophy for First Division Championship -

The trophy caught my attention and it was beautiful and from what I have snapped, I think the trophy was the same one as shown below which I have snapped there.

- The Winner of First Division Championship -

Besides visiting to LFC Museum, we went to the souvenirs shops too! I bought key chains and other small items as remembrances and I think some of our friends bought jerseys too!

Fruitful visiting that we had back then. Once in a while, I do miss Liverpool. ;')

That's all for today and good day readers.
