Vietnam : Hanoi - The Old Quarter (36 Street) 越南: 河内 36 古街

Vietnam - Hanoi

It was interesting to be able to visit Vietnam, especially Hanoi. Vietnam not a fancy and advance as Malaysia, but it might able to be compared with Thailand and Indonesia.

Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Lies in the North of the country and is one of the country’s top tourist hot spots. Somehow, I miss the feel and food of Vietnam and would love to re-visit there and same goes to Laos, which is a small city with pure heart.

Hanoi offers French-colonial architecture, a rich food culture and a long history (the city celebrated its millennium in 2010.) The most well known and important districts in Hanoi are Ba Dinh District (aka the French Quarter) where the government offices are located and Hoan Kiem District (aka the Old Quarter) which is considered the city’s business hub and main tourist destination.

- Hoan Kiem District (aka the Old Quarter) -

We experienced the sight seeing of the local lifestyle, with sipping coffee and tea with small bench, the motorcyclist that like school of fish. In Chinese language, they said that if we come to Hanoi, we will be looking at motorcyclist and listen to lots of honk!

- Tricycle -

A tricycle ride it would be, and the fastest way to experienced and sight seeing The Old Quarter of Hanoi.

- Temple -

Just like the Chinese, Vietnamese believes in Buddhism.

- Banh Mi -

The local eateries. It was french bread that easily found in Vietnam.

- The tricycle -

I like the smile of the cyclist. :) Although we can't understand the opposite language, we tried hard to communicate with each other :)

Vietnam : Presidential Palace & President Ho Chi Minh Stilt House

Vietnam : Hanoi Part 3

During our visit to Hanoi, one of the highlighted place to visit is the Presidential Palace of Vietnam. It is located in the city of Hanoi and was built between 1900 and 1906 to house the French Governor-General of Indochina.

President Ho Chih Minh was a huge influence to Vietnam's independence and economy, and as at today, President Ho Chih Minh still remain in every Vietnamese heart.

- Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum -

Before the visiting time, we were outside the main entrance and Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is located nearby and facing the field. Yearly event will be held here as a remembrance of the past president.

- Presidential Palace of Vietnam -

We were not allowed to go near to the Presidential Palace. The palace is still in use and hosts government meetings. It is not open to the public, although one may walk around the grounds for a fee.

When Vietnam achieved independence in 1954, Ho Chi Minh was claimed to have refused to live in the grand structure for symbolic reasons, although he still received state guests there, he eventually built a traditional Vietnamese stilt house and carp pond on the grounds. His house and the grounds were made into the Presidential Palace Historical Site in 1975. (Wiki)

- The Vintage Vehicle -

It was one of many vehicles of the President Ho Chi Minh that I were able to took a photo, it was not allowed in fact. And so we walk about and see how is the building and the area of the huge presidential palace.
