I Saw Little Sea Turtles in Kota Kinabalu (Turtle Conservation Campaign 2011)

Note : Don't forget to join my GIVEAWAY HERE (till 23rd Dec, 2011)! :)

I suppose to be at mom's shop on every Saturday (its a norms) but during the first week of this month, Meatball, mom and others went to the train station to experience the North Borneo Railway Steam Train which they have been planned earlier.

Leave me no choice, but to tag along my eldest sister who got the invitation to attend the Turtle Conservation Campaign by Sabah Park which held at Suria Sabah for the first time in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah before meatball ended her trip!

- Turtle Conservation Campaign 2011 -

First of all, I want to ask how many of my readers are nature lover? I know I am most of the time and I hate people who destroy our lovely environment! Definitely I will nag friends who not supportive in protecting our environment.

Anyway, the event turned out to be a nice and meaningful event that I have attended, especially when we saw all the cute little turtle that have been given their "freedom". :)

- Booths for awareness -

Activities and games for the public to join in addition to the launching of the turtle conservation campaign later.

- Each block contains information about sea turtles -

For sea turtles species, their life cycle from hatching to mating, ways to preserve them, protect them, the news where sea turtles were caught by fishermen for personal gain and others.

- The Main Stage -

The logo of the campaign was a cute with cartooned sea turtle!

Launching ceremony started with invited guests made their speech, some of the speech was time consuming but with a lot of information on protecting our marine life, not only Sea Turtles. ;)

- Goodies Bag -

Environmental friendly recycle bag with cute Sea Turtle logo. I found a thin booklet of conserving the Sea Turtles, similar information like stated on the blocks on earlier photograph, Sticker and others.

- The Authority -

Speech ended and the VIPs whom officially launched the Turtle Conservation Campaign by giving freedom to the turtle and letting them being set free to the "sea" (as in an man made aquarium with sand and sea water).

- So cute! -

I never saw real baby sea turtle that crawled in front of me! They were adorable, not many of us could resist it. :P The funny thing is the turtle was crawling here and there before it swim in the water. I think it was blurred before they being set free.

- Photo Session -

I wanted to touch them, but the aquarium was surrounded with the red belts and NO TOUCHING anymore. :( I saw other people hold them before. :( The turtle can't turn itself over (not moving either) and I thought it was died when I see it closer) -__-

- The crowd to see the baby turtles -

Everyone was excited but do they play a roll in conserving the marine creature?

Cut down those consumption of sea turtle eggs people! Be supportive.

Thus, we need to protect our environment, it's the cycle of this earth. Safe the creatures of this earth, increasing number of them are facing extinction issues, let our children to see this beautiful world with unique living creatures that left until their generation. :)

Taiwan : Sun Moon Lake, TaiChung - Native Performance【台湾游】 台中之日月潭的民族歌唱舞蹈

A video of the day for all...

I have never regretted that I step my foot on the ground of Sun Moon Lake of Taichung, Taiwan. Enjoying the beautiful scenery, the performance and non the less, the native handsome and beauties, they do interest me much to know more about their culture. :)

I managed to took a short video of them on my trip and here is it. Maybe some of you don't understand what they are singing, but I'm sure you will love it too. =3

- Native performers at Sun Moon Lake -

Heard that beautiful voice singing? They said she is the Princess of the native village. =3

Their voice was beautiful and exotic with meaningful lyrics to be sang and FYI, many of the famous artists from Taiwan are natives too! Anyway, I'm regret that I didn't buy any of the CDs while I was there and maybe I should ask my friends to purchase the CD on behalf of me if one of them manage to be there in the future.

Everyone was enjoying themselves listening to the beautiful voice and performance by the handsome and beauties, but do they noticed that they were performing to earn for a living too? So... Yes, meatball did give small token of appreciation to them and they were happy when she did that! :)

All the best to all of them and I wish to buy their CDs soon!

Location : Sun Moon Lake, Taichung, Taiwan

Musical Night with Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Sigh~ Its Friday and I'm sick.... Yea~ Happy girl is having flu and sore throat now. -_- And I'm writing a new entry now~ No matter how, writing a post doesn't effect much with my fingers right? :P

 Haha ;D Back to post.

I'm quite lucky that I was there to experience one of the must attend Orchestra here in KK. After years of performing with pianica on the stage while I was a primary student in a band team, I think this is my first attempt to enjoy such wondering Orchestra at our historical building of Menara Tun Mustapha.

- The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) -

Finally, MPO come to Sabah to perform in KK City!

Audiences reached on time (seldom seen in Malaysian way) to wait for the performance to start, and everyone were silent during the performance going on.

No matter what, I still saw people taking photographs in the Auditorium!

- Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra held on 01.11.2011 -

I have paid RM70.00 for my ticket to enjoy the show with Meatball and her friends. NO BF this time, at least a night for silent and relaxation and far from everything else. :)

The whole performance was nice, however there's part where audience were disappointed with students (with tickets paid for RM15.00 each person.) whispering at the corner where most of us could hear. Non the less, there's people who asked them to KEEP QUITE!! WTH!! Talk the whole day still not enough is it??

- Before the actual show started -

Musician walked to their seats, tried to warm up themselves a little before the performance started.

Sorry to say this, but WE WERE NOT ALLOWED TO TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS during the on going performance, therefore I only managed to take a few of the group pictures of them on stage with their music instruments, the violins, the base, the trumpets etc etc..

For other photos I took, just scroll down!

- The musician -

- The musician -

Interesting Orchestra with good looking people too! :P The Orchestra was conducted by Kevin Field, Flute played by Hristo Dobrinov.

- The group of performers -

Guess what? I had listened to familiar Mozart Music that night and they even played Malaysian Evergreen Folksongs like "Jong Jong Inai", "Chan Mali Chan" and Rasa Sayang" with nicer version!

And before the performance ended, they performed with our famous local song - "Bridge of Tamparuli" (Jambatan Tamparuli) instead of "Sayang Kinabalu". One of a kind experience whereby everyone were excited with it!! How good was that??

The violin were played in such a way that was so light by the violinist.. Its really hard to express by words but I could tell you that everyone played with all their heart and feeling, this applied the same to other musicians too. :)

Anyway, a nice Orchestra to be experienced once in a while.

And I would love to enjoy future must attend Orchestras performance happening here in KK!

An Eye Opener through The 6th Sabah International Folklore Festival 2011

It was not the first Sabah International Folklore Festival (SIFF) held in Sabah as what you can see from the header.

I believe that they have gained so much experiences from the past few years and making the current event successful as what I have seen the other night during their first day of competition.

Personally, I love cultures and colours, as for those who love what I love, certainly you will love this entry with videos and photographs. :)

- Batik Painting -

An introduction on our native culture of Sabah before the show started and some snacks to be purchased before the show.

- Cloth making -

It happened last minute when meatball asked me whether am I interested to go and it was FOR FREE as her friend got them and offered a ticket more for the meaningful treat, thought I would not have the chance to attend the event again this year. From what I have remembered, Meatball told me before that the past SIFF which she attended were AWESOME during the competition held!

AND it make me even more interested to experience the wonderful folklore dances by foreigners all over the world. :)

- The 6th Sabah International Folklore Festival 2011 held at Sabah Cultural Centre, Penampang -

 * Burger : Hi readers!

:P I was sharing Burger with Meatball that night.... as our dinner.

- Warmest welcoming -

By folklore dancers of 18 places (including countries) all over the world and places as in small towns in a huge country also in the list. :)

I never expected the event was such happening and has been well managed, the best part was we were allowed to wear casual attires like short pants. haha :D

- Live Band accompanying us -

Before the official show started, live band was there to calm the bored atmosphere.

- Mascot of 6th SIFF! -

The first mascot of SIFF after few years and FYI, they did performed on the second (last) day of the competition but I did not attend it. :( However, meatball did attend and I heard it was quite good!

Okay, cut the long winded explanation here and going to show you more photographs here and there. I only select a few because there were too much amazing one :(

- Local performers from Penampang before the official event started -

- All the contestants all over the world! -

From Taiwan, China, Korea, Russia, Turkey etc etc... and I'm so hype and can't wait for the show to start!
Watch the video below and you will know which countries participated in that meaningful event. :)

- It looks fine, doesn't it? -

- Malaysia -

Neh~ They didn't take part in the competition.

- Belgium -

Watch the video below with Performance by Belgium with our famous local song - Sayang Kinabalu!

- Belgium -

- Taiwan -

AMAZING performance I tell you! They caught our attention with so much "stunts" they did and one of it was the above!

- Namibia -

Watch the video below too!

- Namibia -

- Philippines -

- Indonesia -

- Slovakia -

- Kazakhstan -

- Closing Ceremony for the first night -

Overall, I really love most of the folklore dances performed by the international performers. It really an eye opener and make me understand more about the culture of the other countries which includes countries that we may not able to visit in our lifetime within few hours of performance.

It was a great event that everyone will be enjoying themselves if they attended SIFF, more to come in the coming years. No worry. ;) And it will be awesome if we could attend the competition on  those two consecutive days with the same performers but different folklore dances. :)

Can't wait for the coming one and hope I didn't forget to notice about it somehow!

【沙巴游】 古达:好棒! 婆罗最顶峰音乐会 2011 Fun in Sabah : Kudat - Tip of Borneo Music Festival 2011 was amazing!

Hey~ My last weekend was busy and tiring but I HAD SO MUCH FUN meeting people from local and tourist from far and enjoyed part of the music fest on that weekend. :) Tourists who I met even shared their thoughts to us about the event!

In my point of view, Tip of Borneo Music Festival 2011 was AWESOME and quite a meaningful event that everyone should at least go to Kudat for once on that special event.

- Music Festival at Tip of Borneo, Kudat -

FYI, in case you saw that girl at the Tip of Borneo Music Festival 2011 Shuttle Bus Service at Likas Square Bus Stop, that would be me! Hello! :D

I was there to assist THP (facebook) (click like on THP page to support their good job!) for both day and on the first day I did bump into my Primary School principal! And we did have a word or two!

- Amazing Beach Scene of Kudat -

The first bus leave at 1.30pm sharp and the second was 15 minutes behind, its all because of last minute guests.

For hours on the road journey, finally we reached Tip of Borneo at 5.30pm and the show started at 5.45pm sharp! Fuhh*** Luckily we were there on time! We passed by the beautiful clean/ unpolluted white sandy beach of Kudat and OMG! The sky view was amazing with the Sunshine through the Cloud. Unfortunately, some of the guests were freaked out with the uneven road to Tip of Borneo. :( Dear Minister, we really would like to have a better road and introduced to the world about the beautiful place for a night or two.

- Datuk Masidi Manjun - Our honourable Minister of Tourism, Culture & Environment Sabah -

The arrival of Datuk on the first day of the Music Festival and experieced the welcoming by the native people of Kudat - The Men and Women of Rungus Tribe.

- Welcome by the Rungus people -

- The Welcoming shown in the video -

As what I have understood from my mom who was staying overnight at Kudat for two days, the special welcoming by the native people were only on the first day of the event. We were welcomed by them from the entrance to the seats.

- Beautiful traditional custom by The Rungus -

- The Stage and the Grand Seats (RM50.00) -

The grand seats above and the arena seats shown below were occupied by visitors all over the world and locals who came to Kudat for that special event and enjoy their short stay around the beach area and Tip of Borneo.

- Arena seats (RM30.00) with sitting mat included -

No worry, the early birds got a nice spot to view the happening stage performance while other late comers can too! All have equal share of the view. ;)

- Opening Act by Dayang Noraini, the local singer of Sabah -

- A short introduction by Dayang Noraini on the band -

All of the performance did a great job with all the instruments in hand and heavenly vocal that everyone were enjoying especially when the day getting darker.

- The beautiful view of Sunset appearing any time -

I never actually seen such a beautiful Sunset beside the view from Kota Kinabalu City during that hour. And I was actually looking at the Sunset where South China Sea and Sulu Sea are there.

- Jesselton Philharmonic Orchestra (Instrumental) -

Talented local performers.

- The Sunset I have seen there -

Everyone who went to the Music Fest witnessed the beautiful Sunset which accompanied us through the evening. Breathtaking scene right? That's why I love about Sabah, all the beautiful nature here.

- Jesselton Philharmonic Orchestra (Instrumental) featuring Fred Feraddy A.Okuling -

Local song sang by Fred in traditional Rungus costume. Very nice and I listened to that song before which my dad played or karaoke-ing when he is in the mood.

- A short break -

I never seen this kind of "hanging" stall before. I went forward to have a look and actually they used bamboo to hang all of the snacks and etc.

Vedablu Ice Cream was there! Arghh~ So refreshing after I had my ice cream and adding a little more energy in me. Besides, those I mentioned, we can buy some snacks or eating noodles from the restaurant nearby, we don't want to be hungry while enjoying the music fest right? ;P

Here's a video that I watched from THP facebook page, I did not have the chance to enjoy such a beautiful performance by Roger Wang featuring Angelina Perete (and daughter) - Butterfly Baby! Certainly heartwarming song! Must watch and give her daughter a round of applause! *claps claps* All of them are Sabahan!!

You know what? I playback the video for few times and I still love the song they are singing! Feels like searching for the CD for collection!

- Roger Wang featuring Angelina Perete (and daughter) - Butterfly Baby -

THP assistants were busy through the night or should I say through the weeks and during both of the happening event. Therefore, few of us actually did not sit properly to enjoy the show on Saturday but on Sunday, all of them did enjoyed themselves while I was at home resting and prepare for work on Monday! I wouldn't want to have red eyes during work like what I had on Saturday morning after I had my sleep at 4.00am, don't I? :P

Sing Out Asia - N'jami from Okinawa, Japan -

Sing Out Asia - N'jami from Okinawa, Japan -

The first performers of Sing Out Asia during the second part on the Saturday event. I want to say out LOUD that they were awesome!!! Just play the video below!!

Sing Out Asia - N'jami from Okinawa, Japan -

 - Sing Out Asia - Art Thomya from Thailand -

He was charming with beautiful vocal and a talented artist to know. I was behind all the crowd, sitting at a corner and listened to his song. He caught all of the audience attention when he sang "Wonderful World" and most of us or should I say all of us who knew that song, sang along together. Aww~~~ It was soo soOoo beautiful. I really enjoyed much when I was sitting there. :')

 - Sing Out Asia - Art Thomya from Thailand and N'jami from Japan -

Play the video and listen to his song, please ignore the lousy quality of my video, I was too far behind. :(

 - Sing Out Asia - Art Thomya from Thailand and N'jami from Japan -

I saw performers were enjoying themselves on stage. That was cool!

In the middle of short relaxation, we were asked to the Canteen for a discussion and its about time to wait for guests before the end of the event. One by one guests walked to the waiting point and the event on the first day ended after 10.30pm. Oh my~

- Beautiful moon (A big one) shining above us that I finally knew how to take it with my Canon - G12 -

Event ended and I reached KK around 3.00am, sorted things out and I could only sleep at 4.00am. It was my first time encounter such late sleeping hour. hehe ;) Blurry me wake up before 9.00am for breakfast with T and his parent, totally don't know how did I managed to drive to the restaurant. :/ LOLz

Great event I would say, even I only enjoyed part of it! I hope next year I could actually sit back and relax while enjoying myself. :)
