Last year was a success with Gawai and Kaamatan Festival's limited edition, and this year, Carlsberg Smooth Draught will be presenting six artistically designed special-edition cans and bottles this year to celebrate the pride of Sabah & Sarawak.

The beautiful Mt. Kinabalu representing Sabah and the Hornbill representing Sarawak, I am excited to collect all of the designs!

Sporting six unique icons in vibrant colours, the ‘Sabah & Sarawak Pride’ packaging sublimely accentuates the lush local nature and rich culture in an illustrative composition, showcasing a masterpiece of contemporary art and beer. The creative artworks feature icons such as the Orangutan, majestic mountains and Rafflesia of Sabah and the Longhouse, Hornbill and Sape of Sarawak. Aptly themed ‘Raikan Kebanggaan Sabah & Sarawak’, this campaign pays tribute and recognition to the beautiful culture of the natives, extraordinary wildlife, and amazing natural wonders.  

Available in 320ml cans and 580ml bottles, these iconic Carlsberg Smooth Draught products are made exclusively for Carlsberg consumers in Sabah and Sarawak and will be introduced in three phases through island wide consumer promotions. The first two designs were revealed in March, followed by another two in conjunction with the coming Gawai and Kaamatan festivals and the final two to be unveiled towards the last quarter of the year.

Sabah Bakery & Hospitality Expo 2019 - The First to Held in East Malaysia!

Congratulation to Sabah Confectionery and Bakery Association (SCABA) for organising the first bakery and hospitality expo in East Malaysia - "Sabah Bakery & Hospitality Expo" (SBHE)

The three days event was held from 22nd - 24th November, 2019 and start from 10.00am, at ITCC Exhibition Hall (1st Floor), Penampang.

The launching ceremony was held today at 11.00am and was officiated by Guest of Honor, State Minister of Agricultural and Food Industries, YB Datuk Junz Wong.

SBNHE is the first bakery and hospitality exhibition held in East Malaysia which aims to invite individuals and companies to further understand this industry as well as making new bonds with suppliers of various companies. At the same time, it will enable participants of booths to showcase their branding and expanding clientele at the same time. To further boost the exhibition, the organiser also invited the International Federation of Chinese Bakery and Confectionery Association (Asia) as well to be as their guest. It will also further strengthen the economy.

The exhibition consist of various participants from different industries such as Bakery Machinery, Food Ingredients, Frozen and Dry Food, Sanitary and Packaging, Industrial/household cleaning chemical, F&B Software as well as others related to the food industries. Furthermore, there are also participants from countries such as China, Taiwan, Brunei, Indonesia and more. A total of 135 booths participated.

 

On stage : YB Datuk Junz Wong, together with SCABA's President - Mr. Peter Khoo, SBHE's Organising Chairperson - Mr. Collin Tan, guest of the International Federation of Chinese Bakery and Confectionery Association (Asia) and all the important guests.

Had an opportunity to take photograph with Mr. Ceasar Mandela Malakun, Group General Manager of Sabanilam Enterprise Sdn Bhd and Tuan Hendry Idol, the District Officer of Penampang.

 

One of the highlighted today would be the booth visiting by Datuk Junz Wong accompanied with the President and the organiser of the said event.

Demostration program such as Cake decoration, Chocolate Praline Demo, 3D Cake Demo, Coffee Art (Barista) Show.

 

 Interesting booths with mixture of relevant industry involving with food preparation. Well, I may say I learnt a bit more about bakery and hospitality.

It's the first time that U.S. Fries Fiesta 2019 was held in Kota Kinabalu, and it was held on Wednesday, 26 June, 2019 at Hyatt Regency Hotel.

With special invitation passes to the said event, we were able to witness the launching and being officiated by YB Datuk Wong Hong Jun, the Minister of Agricultural and Food Sabah.

There are 9 outlets around Kota Kinabalu participate in the Fiesta featuring special dish using US potato. The participating outlets are I Degree Restaurant & Cafe, The Chub’s Grill, Zinox Bar & Grill, The Next Block Restaurant, Hyatt Regency Kinabalu, High Street Cafe, Dreamtel Kota Kinabalu, ZING Restaurant & Bar and Lucy’s Kitchen.

We just have to dine in and be fun to win some vouchers and a grand prize of an iPad.

 

We are always familiar with U.S. potatoes, however, during the fiesta, various unique potatoes dishes were created by all nine restaurants for us to try!

Sabah : They Say Harvest Festival in May, Is Like Sabah Style "Oktoberfest" (WHY LA!)

I bet our Harvest Festival would be a happening event in fact!

It's an annual event that Harvest Festival is one of the largest event of Sabah, it is celebrated by all the natives, the Sinos and I guess even their friends who are non- natives. Which who don't drink, right? ;)

It's been a while since the last visit to KDCA for it's happening event held annually. This year, we were wondering why the weather was so bad that it has been heavily rained and some of the core area was flooded after the heavy rain poured on the 31st May.

It was drizzling when I was there on the first day (30th) of the event, sometime in the afternoon since it was a public holiday. The weather was nice and cooling, we were able to have a walk there and I did took a short clip which you could scroll to the bottom of this post.

The highlights of Harvest Festival would be the Unduk Ngadau, definitely congratulation to al the winners. The 1st place - Inanam (Hosiani James Jaimis), 2nd place - Penampang (Sherrylyn Jane Rannytho) and 3rd place won by - Putatan (Vanessa Audrey Gilbert).

Creative snacks

Harvest Festival is the highlights, there's also snacks, beers and other interesting food and booth available at the venue. The main highlight of the food, would be the pork and lamb, varieties of dishes available for us to try!

Yes, people drinks there. And it is definitely a crowd behind every stall of finger food. And that's why it started to be known as the "Oktoberfest" in May. The Sabah style.
