KK Food : Jiu Long Bing Shi 九龙冰室, Lintas

My oh my...

It was a big hoo haa when this Hong Kong theme was open weeks ago. I have made a visit to this air-cond coffee shop and it was quite disappointing.

Nothing to say much and it's just an amateur Hong Kong style coffee shop.

By seeing all the photos. You know. :)

So much to be improved.

KK Food 【亚庇美食】 : Semi Soup Rice Vermicelli by Papa Kopitiam 老豆香低米粉, Hilltop

Papa Kopitiam is originated from Tawau. One of Sabah province that having delicious varieties of food everywhere.

So back to Kota Kinabalu itself, during one Sunday, we went to have a taste of this well known kopitiam located at Hilltop. Easily accessible and easily seen with their huge signboard.

- The Noodles -

I had mixed inner pork, additional with eggs, while Hubs had pork ribs noodle.

For a plate of of such portion, it was not really filling. However, the taste was generously tasted.

Talk about the pork ribs, adding rice wine increased the dull taste of pork in to something different where the local will loves it. While for my plate, it tasted okay, surely the broth was loaded.

- Inner Pork Rice Vermicelli with Egg -

We had a conversation with the lady boss, she is from Tawau. In that case, she temporary closed the actual shop in Tawau for two months just to make sure all the quality remained as we could tasted in the new branch in Kota Kinabalu.

Well, if you would love to try something original and different, do have a try there. ;)

Dim Sum Breakfast at New Wong Kok Restaurant (Luyang), K.K., Sabah

Upcoming event on this July 2011 - Read about it - Tip of Borneo Music Festival 2011 (click),where the Sunset and Musical combines. :)

I do love to eat Dim Sum and I know that most of the Chinese do!

New Wong Kok Restaurant opened another branch at Luyang, replacing the old Emperor Restaurant (王帝楼) since months ago.

Heard from meatball who went there for their dinner and she told me that it taste good. Therefore, she reminded me about the saliva drooling Big Pooi Choi and other dishes from New Wong Kok Restaurant at Bundusan (click). *blinked eye*

- Dim Sum (点心) -

Every Saturday, I will be going to my mom's shop and once in a while my parents will bring me to nearby the restaurant for breakfast and this time I suggested the newly operate New Wong Kok Restaurant located at Luyang for a try.

- Sau Mai (烧卖)-

In my mind, I'm having high expectation on their Dim Sum served at the first place since I tried they Dim Sum from Bundusan branch before. However, its quite disappointing in the end.

No doubt there's still a lot of customer go there for their Dim Sum for months.

p/s: We can't eat too much Dim Sum either, it may cost us some health related problems in the future if we over consumed it now.

- Sau Mai (烧卖)-

Their Dim Sum served was tasteless that day, although the size of it was larger than the usual we had from other restaurants. I don't know why does it taste such, maybe its too crowded with people but... their first outlet (Bundusan) taste much better, even though its crowded with people (waiting list for almost one hour) during CNY. :/

Besides, T and his family went there for their breakfast once when his uncle came back for holiday from Hong Kong on April 2011. Their comment for the restaurant were "Its too much msg they've added and its not good for us to eat too much. Besides, did you all felt thirsty after you had their Dim Sum?"

- Melting Custard Bun (流沙包) -

Now a days, people normally will be particular on their health.
Did you heard about the news where the number of death are getting higher and more towards younger generation lately? So, take care of our health and I need to get my butt up for exercise!!

- Melting Custard Bun (流沙包) -

Their signature bun but I still prefer the one which is from Bundusan branch. The texture I had from Bundusan were melting smooth.

- Price range from RM2.00 to RM8.00 -

Reasonable pricing I suppose. I love to eat Dim Sum and the restaurant located quite near to my house. And, I hope their Dim Sum will be better during my next visit. :)

Oh my~ I'm hungry at this hour after I completed my post! ;P

【亚庇吃】渔村漂浮餐厅 Food in Kota Kinabalu : Fresh Seafood & Cultural Dances of Fisherman Village (Kg. Nelayan) Floating Restaurant

When tourists talks about Sabah, they always keeps in mind that we have the freshest seafood compared to many other countries. And that's true and it's also depends on which restaurant we wanted to visit too!

I can see that people came to Sabah for seafood and they always asking "WHERE WILL THE BEST PLACE TO HAVE SEAFOOD?". Well, you can try any restaurant in town when you saw it is crowded, definitely it will be fresher. :D And i really meant it! Remember to check the pricing before placing our order on those living fishes that you're going to eat! I think you do not want to end up with sky high prices in the end.

- Kampung Nelayan Restaurant -

It is not a new seafood restaurant in town and I think most of our above average budgeted tourists have been here for their seafood and cultural dances. I really love Cultural Dances that represent our colourful multi-cultural here in Sabah.

- Lobsters -

Seafood served are great at the restaurant and of course the price are even "better" when we ordered expensive seafood. ;)

- Soft Shell Crabs -

Personally, I like to eat Soft Shell Crabs. But, in actual it is quite cruel when you listen to how they have been caught and kept.

- Fish Mow Soup -

It is better to have fish mow soup as a substitution of Shark Fin Soup. Do we?

The number of Sharks are getting lesser now-a-days, so work together to support "NO SHARK FIN!" campaign!

- Our Dinner for the Night -

The food was fine. However, the crabs we had that night were quite small in size and we noticed that the restaurant was crowded with tourists all over the places and THP got 3 groups of tourists there enjoying their wonderful dinner! ;)

The crabs were quite small, maybe it was not the season for big fleshy crabs yet and I still remember that my previous visits there were served fleshy crabs. Yummy and I like to have Salted Egg Crabs.

- Cultural Dances -

Dance performance by professional dancers daily and their dances were not the same each time I went! Great job!

Searching for their "PREYS"!! Yea~ right! They will randomly select audience to go in front the stage for a short "show" with blow piping in front of other audiences.

Besides, the audiences have the chance to go up the stage and dance with them together for the Bamboo Dance by Murut Tribe.

Normally, Murut Dances will be the last program been fixed. They are famous for their speed in dances and reaches the peak of traditional dances and ended glamorously! Vary exciting and will keeps our eye widely open and I assure you that when you have the chance and you love cultural dances like I do.

After they complete their cultural dances and it's time for photography session, anyone can go forward to take photographs with those handsome guys and pretty locals ladies.

Before I forget! The must try dessert at Kampung Nelayan is their COCONUT PUDDING! It's awesome!

Check out their official website : click here!

CNY Dim Sum at Shangri-la Hotel and New Wong Kok Restaurant, K. K., Sabah

Went to had Dim Sum as breakfast for two days straight! And almost got ourselves burst while are having MEAT MEAT MEAT at these festive season. Butter cookies, snacks and OMG visiting to relatives' house and FOOD again!!!!

My dad was bugging us to go to Foo Phing for Dim Sum, however we spend our parent to a nicer restaurant on the second day of CNY.

- Hotel Shangri-la *Halal* -

It's reminded the old days when I was a primary school student and parents brought us there for Dim Sum, everything was so nice and packed.

We were seeking for nice Dim Sum and went to the hotel for breakfast. NO PORK SERVED! Not much of people when we went there (maybe they thought they didn't serve Dim Sum after the hotel renovated and most Chinese love PORKs). ;D

Dim Sum are made of Chicken and it's taste a bit awkward after we had pork Dim Sum in all these years.

The food was nice anyway! I love their hot meat ball bun and the fried carrot cake with beansprouts. Hot and delicious!

Service was well-trained and the breakfast only cost us RM87.00 (include service charge and taxes). See? It's totally worth for six person!

Third day of CNY - Went for Dim Sum with my uncle's family at -

- New Wong Kok Restaurant *Non Halal* -

We wait for 1 hour for our turn to have our seats and that's include those who didn't took their number and just waited their turn at those tables which were going to finish their Dim Sum very very soon. It's quite unconsidered at all. (What to do? It's CNY! That's why it's like having WAR in there.)

However, their Dim Sum were very SATISFYING and it cost from RM5.00 to RM9.50 per basket. It's worth for the price when we saw the huge Meatball牛肉丸 and Sau Mai 烧麦。

It's so GOOD and we are SO FULL!!! And it cost RM240.00++ and we ordered quite alot for 10 of us.

Very Hong Kong styled Dim Sum! Yummy! Even their dinner are GOOD too! - click

p/s: Our re-refrigerator still have Frozen Dim Sum bought from supermarket on the second day of CNY, my dad complaint that he want to have pork Dim Sum! OMG! Dim Sum for three days straight?

New Luyang Restaurant, Luyang, K.K, Sabah 路阳酒家

They serve one of the best crabs in town, even foreign visitors visit the restaurant to have their seafood dinner.

My aunt told us that, the owner only operates when the crabs are fleshy and the quantity are enough for that night. It means that the owner emphasis more on the crabs quality and true that when you see the saliva drooling crabs!!

It was full of crabs eggs (our favourite) ... Cannot be over cook so that it taste WOW!

Those crabs are more than enough for 8 of us that night. Blurpppp**** Excuse me!

However, I still prefer Salted Egg with Crabs and the dish that fried with Curry Powder(金香蟹).

p/s: Seremban still listed as the best crabs I tried so far! (click click)

Luyang area.
Its located next to the BP Oil Station, see your right side when you are heading to the town from Damai/ Foh Sang.
