KK Eats : Chiu's - The Modern Local

Kota Kinabalu, Sabah : 88 Marketplace
Serve No Pork

A day to chill with my girls. To gossips about what's about.

Located at 88 Marketplace, Chiu's is one of the modern fusion cafe that the younger generation would like to have a quick lunch or coffee and cakes.

I had Mushroom Risotto. Just don't felt like having meat.

The portion definitely enough and won't be dissatisfying.

Oh yea. We met Bryan again! ;)

That Shabby Lil Bistro - Aubergine, 88 Market Place, KK

We normally visit that few usual restaurant when we are with our parents for dinner. Perhaps, many of you are same as me as well. :D

Months ago and while my mom's best friend was here, we went to a new restaurant for something different, little sister introduced us there.

Aubergine.

Eggplant is a species of nightshade commonly known in British English as aubergine and also known as brinjal, brinjal eggplant, melongene, garden egg, or guinea squash." - source

Here are what we had that night!

A few months ago, we saw Nestor Suan of Sailors’ Cafe post some pictures of his friend’s new restaurant called Aubergine. So in the spirit of being an adventurous foodie cum supportive friend of friends of friends, we went there to enjoy their not-too shabby little bistro and to sample their food!

Ambiance

This bistro occupies a corner lot facing the highway, on the 1st floor (Same block as Lucy’s Kitchen). Our first impression was that it was a no-nonsense cozy bistro, perfect mostly for evening meals with people you feel comfortable enough to chat about your life with. As long as you don’t mind other people eavesdropping too.

Business dinners may work if yours is the kind that can hack a relaxed, casual, yet mood-filled setting. It also works well for small young families, even the elderly with adult children.
abergineinterior
The furniture’s not too shabby, with rubber-wood tables and chairs, and also a couch area near the entrance. The casual cozy bistro with mood-lighting would be a hit with the younger crowd.
On to the food…

Chicken Caesar Salad

This was fresh, but not your classic Caesar salad. I just think Caesar salad should be Caesar salad. Plus, because I’m a bit of a raw fanatic a.k.a. salad snob, my expectations tend to be a little higher than most people. (I eat salads almost everyday).
aubergine_chickencaesar
The salad is decent compared to most places in KK, but they need to consider a name change or go back to the classic Caesar recipe.

Eggplant Bruschetta

- Lamb Chop with Mashed Sweet Potato  -

Our dinner was satisfying that night, price are reasonable.

Dishes we had were quite special, I love the mashed sweet potato a lot and the tempura pouched egg surprised me, I wonder how they make it.

Aubergine, will be one of the bistro that I would recommend to my friend and personally I like it quite a lot, except for the warm environment.

【时尚生活】Fashion #OOTD : Yay Captain!!

Last weekend, just like the usual Saturday - hang out with Beverly again! And as she mentioned days before, she wanna take photos for #OOTD (Outfit of the Day) and I wanted to try as well. (hehe :P)

We went to fetch her mom at the airport and went for lunch at Aroma Bistro & Steak House located at 88 Marketplace, Kepayan. Lunch was good and sort of light with club sandwich and mushroom soup for sharing.

- Aroma Bistro & Steak House -

- Mushroom Soup -

Blended mushroom soup is one of my favourite, in fact, the contains in it are very high in calories as well.

Anyway, if the soup served are hot enough, it will be perfect! :) And what about others that we had? Well, nice presentation, taste okay, price? More or less worthwhile for such a bistro.

After lunch, we went for a walk at shopping mall and we end up randomly took a few photos for #OOTD.

- #OOTD -

*Glasses - Uniqlo *Sailor Crop Top - K.K. *Bottom - Brands Outlet *Leopard Print Shoe - ASOS * Watch - Titus *Bracelet - Pandora and Tiffany & Co. *Gem Stone Pendant - from Pahang *Handbag - Louis Vuitton* Anklet Bracelet - from Mom*

- Credit to Beverly for the photos! -

It was such a coincidence that some accessories (her Sailor's Tote Bag) actually matched with my top! Moreover, we didn't mentioned before that. It's just the casual Saturday we had.

Remember to visit her at her blog! A very active person that I know in real life!! :)

And so, that's our last weekend together. Cheers!

Authentic Klang BKT @ Weng Fung (Klang) Bak Kut Teh (永蘴巴生肉骨茶), 88 Marketplace, K.K.

 *Non-Halal*

Once in a while, a bowl of hot Bak Kut Teh will be great during rainy day.

Visited Weng Fung few months ago after being introduced by an uncle of mine and back for another because of their soup!

- Weng Fung (Klang) Bak Kut Teh -

Originated from West Malaysia and it's been one of the favourite BKT for us to visit lately. And such a coincidence that my mom actually knew the owner, a long lost friend. :)

- Weng Fung (Klang) Bak Kut Teh -

View from behind of that restaurant.

- Rice for the Day -

Yam Rice! The yam well blended with the rice is the recommended one and it is not necessary served daily! So... be sure to check out when will there be Yam Rice available! :D Non the less, they do have garlic rice as well!

- Fish BKT -

The soup taste good, however we don't really favour much on this Fish BKT, yet the original BKT we favour most.

- Mixed Pork Bak Kut Teh -

The highlight of the night! We always heard about how good it is "Klang BKT" and yes, we do have it here... finally!

I love the taste by the restaurant, however if you have tried the one at West Malaysia (which I did, but not under the same name), different restaurant prepares differently and of course, taste different too! Some may said the one I'm writing about today wasn't as good (as savoury) as the one in KL. I'm not sure about that, but I like the one I tried. Quite delicious with the broth they prepared. haha :D

- Dry BKT -

Something different to try and it was my first having that. Besides pork meat, it contains dried cuttlefish, winged bean and dried chili in dark soy sauce

I like the sweet savoury taste with hints of spiciness of this dish, however I still love the soup more!

That's all for today! Happy Saturday! It's my Happy Day! :)
