Was being invited to a local village of Sabah to experience the lifestyle of the villages along the one of the most beautiful river in Sabah - Moyog River.
- Hanging Bridge of Tinopikon Park -
45 minutes drive from the city and entering the village/ park via hanging bridge, finally we make it. No pollution, just breezy and fresh air.
We were welcomed with local musical instruments played by the native villagers. :) Did I tell you that there are twins in every generation of the villagers, and they even danced for us to see!
Here are some of the activities that we can do if we happened to be there.
- Local Outdoors Games -
Running here and there. Oh boy... that's something I never seen before expect for the old school darts.
- Hiking -
It's time to go hiking and time to learn. The environment, the surrounding, the plants etc.
- The Native House -
If I'm not mistaken, the house is one of the oldest at Kg. Notoruss. Refurnished and more than 50 years perhaps.
- Wild Fruits -
It was my first to try "wild mangosteen". Taste like mangosteen for real and it is small in size.
- Lots of Fruits -
The villagers earn their living by selling fruits daily. There's plenty of local fruits for us to buy with very reasonable price too!
- Rubber Tree -
We have the chance to learn rubber tapping.
It was not easy to wake up at 4am in the morning to tap the rubber tree and collect the latex after.
- Nepenthes Plant -
Wild nepenthes was found along the way in the jungle.
It is also a good exercise and breathing the fresh air while hiking.
- Water Fountain -
Deep inside the jungle and finally we reach the clear water, unpolluted fountain.
Certainly clear water and be careful of that slippery rocks!
It is time to return to the riverside. :)
- Fish feeding -
Huge fishes!! Ticklish and fun feed feeding along the riverside. :) I do miss that, like a lot!
About TAGAL, it is a KadazanDusun language that means "prohibition". It is a eco-system that managed by the park community to prohibits people like me and you to catch those fishes at Moyog River. There's only one duration that we are allowed to catch fishes.
- Entertainment Time -
The local musical instruments to entertain guests like us to the village.
- Local Delicacies -
Tuhau and small fishes. The foods served were prepared by the locals there, don't think of very glorious dining but we should try their local taste. :) I had a lot of their porridge and chicken soup! Yummy!

- The Family Bound -
Nothing can define a family. :) Truly, I love this random shot along the river of Tinopikon Park.
Overall, Tagal Tinopikon Park will be one of the park that I will introduce to friends and family whoever wish to experience bits of the local life of native Sabahan for a day. :)
