I never sat there for kopi (coffee) before and that's for the past 20 over years until last month, I was there during the on going Bonding with Gaya Street was held.
Kedai Kopi Kak Tini - It was one of the well known local coffee shop (which also promoted by Tourism Sabah) in Kota Kinabalu where most of the locals here craves for their Banana Fritters a.k.a. Fried Banana. I tried it once of twice before but it's only take away by my dad and tasted not that satisfying (for me) because it was not hot and "attractive" after a while. :( The best consumption of such finger foods will be nice when it was served hot!
You know what? Our current Prime Minister (Najib) and Ex-Prime Minister (Badawi) visited coffee shop before and had the banana fritters by that coffee shop and same as some other well recognised VIPs too. ;) So... don't look down at such a Malay coffee shop here.
- Kedai Kopi Kak Tini -
Serving Beef Noodles (Soto), Yellow Rice (Nasi Kuning), Banana Fritters and Others.
It makes me wondered for quite sometime, that their banana fritters selling like hot cakes (DAILY) and express sold out within minutes. My Gosh! My dad even drives all the way (when he was at downtown) to the coffee shop to buy their banana fritters. ;D
- The Banana fritters Stall at the Corner -
The crowd that having their afternoon tea or lunch at the coffee shop. In fact, when I was there, I saw the scene of true 1 Malaysia, Chinese, Indians, Malay and even the NATIVES sit together under one roof! To see the true 1 M, why don't you all come over Sabah/ Kota Kinabalu to see it. :)
- Our Low Tea Session -
Kopi O (Black Coffee), Kopi Ping (Iced Coffee), Kopi C (Coffee) and Banana fritters!
Once in a while, the cheapest and the simplest afternoon tea. Nice or not?
First bite and second bite of mine - Crunchy! However, I think the banana wasn't mature enough to be cooked. It doesn't have the banana sweet this time. :( A bit disappointed but I'm sure their banana fritters are good that everyone want to eat it, I'm just unlucky that day. :/
As for the Iced Coffee I had, it was good! :) The coffee flavour and its sweet was just nice (suitable Malaysian taste buds).
If you have the opportunity to visit KK next time, why don't you have a try and enjoy yourself at the most memorable place in KK - Gaya Street. ;)
