Being the God of Coffee - "Long Chat" by Santola Bar Cafe, Kolombong, KK

Damai outlet no more operating.

Hey~ It was definitely a good one to have Santola Cafe located near to my house. :)

I like having a nice coffee and cake session sometime in the afternoon and especially on a lazy day. It was a while since the last I had visited Kolombong branch which was before they even uplifted their cafe.

- Big Breakfast -

Visited it again on the same day when Sutera Habour Sunset Charity Run was held and Beverly (my #Saturdate), myself and a friend were having lunch there. Definitely their Big Breakfast was GREAT!!

- Painting -

Both Kolombong and the newly opened branch at Damai are furnished with creative paintings by local artists. I do love the cozy cafe that is away from town, it's a gem as you can see. :)

- Coffees -

Using local coffee beans by Cap Kuda (a local brand of ours here), brewing black coffee with them and bringing the nice aroma at the cafe.

I had Peppermint Coffee while #Saturdate had Chocolate/ Coffee with Ice Cream (I could only remember to ice cream). :P

And I had my evening coffee during one fine Sunday. :)

- Cappuccino, Coffe Au Lait and Red Velvet Cake -

Frankly speaking, I love Kolombong Branch more than Damai Branch during my first visit to the new branch. However, I could see improvement during my third visit and so on by Damai Branch. I will expect more from Damai, in terms of service and coffee of course.

Glad that there's a good cafe to hang out for a long chat with friends or a short business talk somehow.

I will be back for more and especially I have applied a membership card!

Easy Recipe 123 : I Love BUTTER COOKIES!!

:) Most of you know that I love checking out the new cafes in town or others recommended ones.

But... did you know that I love baking? and sometimes I even cook! ;)

Its been a while since the last I wrote recipe that I have prepared for my family and loves one.

- Afternoon Tea at Home -

A nice presentation with nice plate and coffee/ tea aside, just suit me well. :)

So now, melting away with all the butter cookies I have baked! My parents totally in love with them and told me to bake for CNY as well! And I just in love with BUTTER COOKIES!

- Baking of Chocolate Chip Butter Cookies in Progress -

- Pure Butter Cookies and Chocolate Chips Cookies -

Recipe for Pure Butter Cookies
Preparation Time : 30 minutes
Baking Time : 15 minutes
Portion : 30 - 35 pieces

*All of the above may vary, depends on how we prepared them. :)

Ingredients :
150g     Plain flour/ All purpose flour
30g       Corn flour
20g       Custard Powder
160g     Unsalted Butter (soften)
50g        Icing Sugar
1/4 tsp  Vanilla Essence
1 tsp      Baking Powder

Steps :
1.   Preheat oven 180C/ 356F. (Baking paper lay flat on pan)
2.1 Plain Flour, Corn Flour, Custard Powder and Baking Powder mixed well and filtered.
2.2 Icing Sugar filtered well and to be used later.
3.   Unsalted butter, Icing Sugar and Vanilla Essence - Beat till white and fluffy.
4.   Add in 2.1 into 3, use slow mode to beat or using hand to mix all of them together.

5. IT'S MOLDING/ SHAPING TIME!!
Using our hand to mold the mixture in to a long rounded pattern (swiss role/ pipe look alike), then use the plastic food wrap to wrap the whole patterned mixture.
Store it in the fridge for 15 - 20 minutes to harden it, so that it could be easier cut later.

6. Took it out from fridge, using knife to cut into shapes. Put on pan and bake them for 15 minutes! DONE!

7. Do let me know how was your baking for this butter cookies? ;)

Simple recipe and loving it when people appreciate!

Happy to see all those smiling faces. :)

GOOD LUCK!

That Scrumptious Burger by myBurgerLab, Petaling Jaya!

I have read reviews on myBurgerLab months ago and I never ever thought that I could possibly visit them personally!

Thanks to YinBears and Mr. G who brought me there to try their perfectly juicy burger during my recent trip to KL. :)

- The queue -

Stood for almost half and hour to buy our meal for the night. They start from 5.00pm to 10.00pm, quite short hours with overflowing customers.

- Random Phrases outside myBurgerLab -

- The Interior -

From what i could see, I guess most of them were students from the nearby housing area and somehow people like us/ tourists (we met a couple there!) go there to try their scrumptious burgers as well.

- Instagram -

Very simple and interesting concept at one corner.

- The Menu -

Limited supplies for all the burgers offered. Remember to be early to try out the burger you might wanna have!

I wish to try stinky boom (I love PETAI!), but it was sold out that night. :(

- The Queue -

- Of What we Had -

I couldn't recall what I had, but it Charcoal Bread, juicy beef and mushroom in it.

For me, the burger by myBurgerLab was the BEST ONE I had tried before!!!

I  do miss the juicy meat, the soft bread, the fries by them, definitely the best I had until today. A yummy outing and I did not regret to wait for the long queue (which I normally walk away). :)

HaiKou (海口), Hainan (海南), China (中国) : Sightseeing HaiKou & Last Day in China!

Hainan, China - Part 9 - Sightseeing and last day in Hainan!

After we had visited 琼台书院 (QiongTai ShuYuan), we went for our dinner with other mates and back to the hotel for rest.

- Dinner -

All of us were looking forward to have good dinner with the four signature dishes of Hainan - Hainanese Chicken, Crabs, Mutton and Duck. But it turns out to be another disappointing one. Small portion of food shared among 15 of us. My gosh! Moreover it was paid by all of us with sharing bills.

The condition even got complicated when we saw what we paid for that night could even paid for a luxurious dinner at the same restaurant. My aunt even asked the tourist guide and uncle complained to other tourist guide who brought tourist to have dinner at the same restaurant.

- Sightseeing Haikou -

It was raining and elderly and HK tour mates who took the same tour package complained the tourist guide and tour leader, in the end, quarrel happened. Cut the story short, the tour guide had been suspended from work and so on when we are back in Malaysia.

- Sightseeing Haikou -

Haikou is another city in Hainan, a developed city and weather was freezing cold.

Back to our hotel at night and hotel room was normal, meatball and I dated our uncle for a drink/ supper at the hotel lobby. Frankly speaking, I guess all of us did not had a good meal during our trip. I ate like a pig when I'm back to Hong Kong, felt like back to heaven in HK.

- Morning view from balcony -

Strong wind and raining again.

- Breakfast -

Perhaps the best we had and it was..... cold/ warm. -__-"

- Shocked with the explosion -

Back in our hotel room and wait for the time to leave the hotel, and when meatball switched on the light, BOOM! My gosh! We hugged together and totally need to calm down.

- Our Room -

Anyway, I guess we should expect for what we had paid for. In fact, when we purchased packages from the wrong travel company, that's what we expect for.

Finally~~~ Airport!

- 美兰国际机场 (Mei Lan International Airport) -

At least their airport look decent. :)

- Flying back to HK! -

Looking forward to HK and Kei Wah cookie, I like I like! :)

Good bye Hainan, till we meet again.

Yamagoya Ramen (山小屋), Gaya Street, KK

A new Japanese Ramen outlet in town.

Went for dinner during one Saturday and decided to try Yamagoya Ramen, since I love Ramen......

- Ramen and others we had -

Personally I like spicy flavour. As for Japanese Ramen, it seems like I'm not favouring Ramen by them. Somehow, I prefer to have Chinese Ramen.

- Yamagoya Ramen  山小屋 -

Operated by Japanese couple and heard that there's such outlet as well in West Malaysia.

- Interior design -

- Teppanyaki -

- Char Siu -

This is fattening and oily, gave me a headache in fact. And if you LOVE pork, this will be fine for you.

- The Menu -

- The Menu -

In fact, that's only my personal taste buds. If you love Japanese Ramen, here will be a good restaurant for Ramen. :)

Cozy Cafe by LewisGene | espresso, tea & machines, Solaris Mont Kiara, KL

So, people who know me well noticed that I LOVEEEE to relax myself at cozy cafes around town.

For some of you maybe clubs are way interesting, but for myself (not a clubbing person), maybe age is catching up and somehow quiet place suits me more . :)

During my recent trip to KL and the night before I was back in KK, my lovely GF and her BF brought to a cafe located at Solaris Mont Kiara, very interesting area and I love it quite a lot with the well designed cafes and restaurants.

LewisGene | espresso, tea & machines

- View from the Cafe -

Beautiful lighting, friendly people, well equip with necessities and one of them - The WIFI.jpg.

First of all, I wondered that even cafes located at first floor of the building can attract so many customers. Definitely the young ones and the trends of coffees now a days. :) Somehow, I do have the wish to own one and it would be such a dream comes true. Kid you not that few of us even brags around dreaming of running a coffee cafe.

- The Menu Board -

Coffee, Tea and Decaffeinate beverages.

- Panda Cookies -

Heard that it is nice! I didn't get to try one and I regretted.

- The Panoramic View of LewisGene -

- The Counter and Bar -

Love to see the bar which filled with jars, cakes and whatever interesting.

- One Corner at LewisGene -

- Of what we had -

And certainly I did regret that I didn't order coffee on that night because I was afraid I couldn't sleep. -_-" Madly complaining myself when I was viewing their coffee arts in their Facebook.

In fact, the iced fruit tea I had was good and refreshing.

And I'm still looking forward to seek cozy cafes in KK! Do share if you know any nice ones in KK. :)

HaiKou (海口), Hainan (海南), China (中国) : Back to Square One - 琼台书院 (QiongTai ShuYuan)

Hainan, China - Part 8 - 琼台书院, 海口

Personally I love this place, all the calm and quiet surrounding suit us most.

琼台书院 (QiongTai ShuYuan)

Rain was drizzling and weather was cold, in other hand, we could even see the air blowing out from our mouth while we were having a conversation.

Now, let us see this college closely...

- The Entrance -

"琼台书院是海南著名的名胜古迹。琼台书院是海南省旅游涉外定点单位,也是海南省文物保护单位,它坐落在琼山市府城镇中山北路。相传是后人为纪念海南第一才子、明朝大学士邱浚而建。" - 百度 Baidu

Translation : "Hainan and Taiwan College (QiongTai ShuYuan) is one of the famous monument in Hainan. Hainan and Taiwan College is Hainan foreign tourist units and also known as Hainan cultural relics conservation units, which located in Qiongshan town, Zhongshan North Road. The place was built to commemorate the scholar Qui Ju of Ming Dynasty."

- Some of Us -

- Very Peaceful Surrounding -

- 搜书院 -

Part of the images that we could see at QiongTai ShuYuan, a story behind each of them.

- The authentic College -

The conserved building behind the block. Maintained the old furniture for us to see and touch?

A bit spooky, however to know a bit more about Hainanese culture would be essential of the generation after.

- Explanation by Our Tourist Guide -

- Living Room -

- Signature Pose at the Entrance -

- The End -

That's all for what we saw from QionTai ShuYuan!

Heard that this restaurant was the one from Palm Square, Center Point Shopping Mall and the same staffs can been seen as well.

- Part of the Menu -

These were what we had for the night...
