CLOSED - Milo Volcano & Hainan Chicken Rice at Wishbone Restaurant, Jalan Gaya

Ello~ It's one special post from Sketches of Life to my readers on 11.11.11. ;) How's your day today? As for me.. were lunch at Pizza Hut and not feeling that happy today. :(

Anyway!

Once in a while, shopping is essential to relax your feet. :P especially when there's public holiday on weekday!

And after having the short walk, my sister, meatball suggested us (the whole family member) to have a try at Wishbone Restaurant which located along Jalan Gaya for our lunch.

- Wishbone Restaurant -

Located at one of the old building in the main city of Kota Kinabalu. Lot 109, Jalan Gaya.

- Beverages Menu -

The list of price are reasonable in city like ours.

Personally, I did not ordered from the list, but I have tried something new and it was called "MILO VOLCANO" which recommended by Meatball after she had her first try!

- Why they are CHEF -

In Wishbone theory are Classic. Healthy. Economic and Fast.

- MILO VOLCANO! -

Such a huge mug of Milo Volcano that could be shared by few person. Although it look sweet, but actually it taste not. A recommended drink if we go there for a visit. :)

- Tempting not?? -

Hensley Chocolate Syrup, Milo powder, special ice cream and et cetera.. Combining with extra special ingredients, we might love it at the first taste! ;P

- Watan Ho M Size -

I had Watan Ho that day and it taste was ordinary with reasonable price for it. It's around RM8.00 ++.

- The legendary Hainan Chicken Rice (M Size) -

Likewise, the chicken taste was nice as told by meatball. ;) Price was reasonable and it cost RM5.00 Only for S Size, although it was S, the portion just nice for small eater.

Nothing to say much today. Till then...

Perhaps Liverpool's National Conservation Centre for a walk.

Back in 2008, students like us will be free especially on Saturday and Sunday and what we might do was to have small trips here and there which far from the city or even walking in to any interesting buildings in local area (Liverpool) that hanging the word "OPEN". ;D

So... I might not able to remember completely streets that I have walked, in that case... Just read la! :P Its photo sharing anyway.

- I love this shot! (In Liverpool) -

Personally, I do love the architectures of buildings and especially those with influence by the Roman art.

- Some building along the street of Liverpool -

And few of us agree to visit Liverpool very owned National Conservation Centre after we passed by over and over again while on our way to classes.

I don't know why, but museums in other countries seems attractive and interesting. Such as Beatles Museums, Spectacle's Museum etc etc. During that period of time, I have learned a little more about art.. perhaps. :D

- The God of Love -

- Respectful person/ Goddess once before -

- Respectful person/ Goddess once before -

- Miniature of Ship -

- Painting -

- Mummy -

- Clocks -

- One of the Goddess -

We might see more statues around museum here and there. :) A piece of art to remain the past till now.

- One more friend who took our photo -

Well~ Not much interesting facts that I managed to snap that time... Because I never noticed until I started blogging my life in UK once again.

Oh wait! In a glance, the God of Love caught my eye MORE! Lolz

【马六甲吃】 Jonker Street - 娘惹美食 Melaka - Nyonya Cuisine at Nancy's Kitchen

After all the shopping and visiting around Jonker Street and nearby, we went to one of the recommended Nyonya Restaurant at the street behind Puri Hotel.  Luckily we did tried local Nyonya cuisine, if not, there's something missing in our Malacca 2D1N trip. :) And it was actually our lunch before leaving that historical state. ;)

Interesting taste of Nyonya-ish cuisine. Yummy!

- Nancy's Kitchen -

Varieties of Nyonya eateries selection for us. Personally, I like to eat Pai Tee, the crunchy skin with chunky ingredients taste nice. :) But.... I didn't manage to try one during my trip at Malacca. :P

- Nancy's Kitchen -

Located at 15, Jalan Hang Lekir, housed in the old China Cafe. Serving excellent, authentic Nyonya food classics such as "Chicken Candlenut Curry". Besides, small range of local cakes and biscuits are also available for sale! (as referred to Puri Hotel's food lists)

Surprisingly, the style of Nyonya cuisine being served/ cook ARE SIMILAR TO MY DAD'S STYLE OF COOKING! However, Nyonya cuisine is much sweeter in term of the sugar added in their meal. :) That's make me smile and both of my parents while we were having lunch  at the restaurant. :D

- Nyonyas in the early 1930s -

Dressed in the timeless sarong-kebaya. Nyonya is the term for the ladies while the gentlemen will be called as the "Baba". Both of it are terms that represent the ethnics Chinese population in Malaya during earlier days while being influence and adopted the local communities' custom. For well defined about Peranakan Chinese, read more from here (click).

Here comes the NYONYA DISHES!

- Spring Rolls a.k.a. Popiah -

Served with Fried Pork Oil was something different and being served HOT was additional points to it! :)

- Right : Assam Fish Fillet -

OMG! My dad prepared Assam Fish like that too! But with not much sugar added one.

- Pork Pong Teh -

I could not agree more with my dad's cooking of his style of Babi Pong Teh. OMG! Anyway, my dad added Red Carrots in it. ;)

Sedap! (Tasty!)

- Chicken Candlenut Curry -

It was recommended by the friendly person in charge and I didn't expect the dish was recommended in Puri Hotel's list of food as stated before! :) Luckily we did ordered it when we were there.

Beside those dishes, we had Kangkung Belacan too! Nice selection of local vegetables dish.

- Local Cakes -

After we finished out lunch, we headed downstair to settle our bill and there's so much cakes to select and we were chocked when the spices were all over the places. Chocked with the smell of spices, how was that? :D Smells great no matter what.

Before I headed to Malacca (while I'm in KL had a tea session at Nyonya Colours, Mid Valley), I thought I could find local cakes every where in Malacca or places I will be visiting and it turned out to be Nancy's Kitchen selling more around Jonker Street. However, no worry! I had another tea session at Nyonya Colours again in KL later! :) So, wait for the updates!

- So cheap!! -

Good food with reasonably cheaper compared with our similar lunch or dinner in KK. We had our lunch there, with all those dishes by paying RM67.75 Only. :)

Satisfying lunch we had before going back KL on our Malacca trip and I will always remember my dad's style of cooking (learned from his mother a.k.a my grandmother)! :)

Guess, one nice Nyonya Cuisine in the list for my mom and others on their trip next year. ;)

Preloved Treasure Hunt - Me Love shopping, They love shoppings! ;P

:) Finally~ Updated my page with Preloved Treasure Hunt, whereby a mini bazaar gathered small amount of online sellers, family and friends under one roof for quality goods, interesting items with reasonably cheap price for new and preloved fashionable items.

For those who didn't managed to be with us at the Shopping spree, you might want to wait until December 2011 for even more happening shopaholics event by PWD which I have mentioned before!

- Candy Love Closet, Closet Raid together with Charlotte sharing one booth! -

A nice Vendor aka Charlotte's friend was helping us to sell our goods when we were busying with other Vendors for their interesting selling items. OMG! Totally Pai Seh for letting other people taking care of our stuffs. :P

You know what was the best part of shopping at bazaar? We could search for lovely items at price as low as RM5.00/ RM10.00 for new and pre-loved ones! And I could promise you that pre-loved items sold by us are very NEW and selectively picked from our closet!!

- Part of our beautiful K.K. sea view -

Told you the hall have nice view from above!

And could you see those fishermen ships? That's the nearest spot to our Wet Market a.k.a. Fish Market.

- DIY Name cards -

We did distribute out our DIY name cards to our buyers and people who were interested in our cards! :) Sound interesting and they were surprised when they have received our cards. :)

- Woots! Everyone were busying! -

Friends visited me, customers choosing their pieces to satisfy their fashion must have.

I did bought a NEW leather shoe and I love it so much!! :) Super comfy bought from Beverly. hehe :P

- Nice collection of heels and shoes by Closet Raid owner -

- Handmade Dream catchers, necklaces, interesting camera lens mugs and baby's toys -

All of them look beautiful and necklaces with Owl pattern (bringing good luck myth) look attractive to us!

- Hair Scalp Scanning -

My hair scalp result was not that good. However, the next photo will be the healthier hair scalp if we managed to take care of it with special hair scalping care.

- The skin with healthy collagen and moisture that everyone suppose to have -

It looks horrible, but the best one we scanned was actually on our skin which we always applied lotions (the above shown was on our hand)!

- Beverly, Charlotte and ME! -

Decent appearance of us with nice attires worn. :) Three of us are Bloggers and managed to meet up months ago and NOW, becoming friends like never before! :D I told you I met great people from BLOGGING!! :D

Me like this photo and so are them! How about my readers reading this entry? ;)

Bazaars by PWD are improving one after another, really interesting and I have enjoyed myself one after another. (although quite tiring la!) LOLz! :D

Musical Night with Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Sigh~ Its Friday and I'm sick.... Yea~ Happy girl is having flu and sore throat now. -_- And I'm writing a new entry now~ No matter how, writing a post doesn't effect much with my fingers right? :P

 Haha ;D Back to post.

I'm quite lucky that I was there to experience one of the must attend Orchestra here in KK. After years of performing with pianica on the stage while I was a primary student in a band team, I think this is my first attempt to enjoy such wondering Orchestra at our historical building of Menara Tun Mustapha.

- The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) -

Finally, MPO come to Sabah to perform in KK City!

Audiences reached on time (seldom seen in Malaysian way) to wait for the performance to start, and everyone were silent during the performance going on.

No matter what, I still saw people taking photographs in the Auditorium!

- Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra held on 01.11.2011 -

I have paid RM70.00 for my ticket to enjoy the show with Meatball and her friends. NO BF this time, at least a night for silent and relaxation and far from everything else. :)

The whole performance was nice, however there's part where audience were disappointed with students (with tickets paid for RM15.00 each person.) whispering at the corner where most of us could hear. Non the less, there's people who asked them to KEEP QUITE!! WTH!! Talk the whole day still not enough is it??

- Before the actual show started -

Musician walked to their seats, tried to warm up themselves a little before the performance started.

Sorry to say this, but WE WERE NOT ALLOWED TO TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS during the on going performance, therefore I only managed to take a few of the group pictures of them on stage with their music instruments, the violins, the base, the trumpets etc etc..

For other photos I took, just scroll down!

- The musician -

- The musician -

Interesting Orchestra with good looking people too! :P The Orchestra was conducted by Kevin Field, Flute played by Hristo Dobrinov.

- The group of performers -

Guess what? I had listened to familiar Mozart Music that night and they even played Malaysian Evergreen Folksongs like "Jong Jong Inai", "Chan Mali Chan" and Rasa Sayang" with nicer version!

And before the performance ended, they performed with our famous local song - "Bridge of Tamparuli" (Jambatan Tamparuli) instead of "Sayang Kinabalu". One of a kind experience whereby everyone were excited with it!! How good was that??

The violin were played in such a way that was so light by the violinist.. Its really hard to express by words but I could tell you that everyone played with all their heart and feeling, this applied the same to other musicians too. :)

Anyway, a nice Orchestra to be experienced once in a while.

And I would love to enjoy future must attend Orchestras performance happening here in KK!

【沙巴游】 斗亚兰 : 白沙滩与椰汁布丁 Fun in Sabah : Road Trip to Karambunai - Smooth Coconut Pudding and White Sandy Beach

It was my first attempt to have a drink at the stall located some where outskirt of K.K. and especially BESIDE THE ROAD...

Meatball (click) and I managed to bring our relative, Teresa from Canada, of ty: live to travel (click) who have traveled few countries before she landed in K.K. last month to try the silky smooth Coconut Pudding and visiting to Karambunai for the white sandy beach. As for local here, definitely they know where are those stalls located! (Along the way to Salut and Gayang Seafood Restaurant). And at one thought, we almost get lost on our way. :S

- Coconut Pudding -

There's many Coconut Puddings selling at restaurants in town, but the one along the roadway are the best!! Once in a while, when possible, meatball and Terence will buy one or two and I EAT THOSE!! NYahahaha :D Sharing of course.

- The stall that we had visited on our road trip -

Nice stall to sit at with open air concept and we didn't felt uncomfortable with the heat out there.

- The list of beverages and dessert they offered daily -

- Normal young Coconuts and Roasted Coconuts -

From the information I have been told that Roasted Coconut "Kelapa Bakar" (in Malay language) is good for health, related to low sugar consumption of it.

Interesting not? And it's a must TRY! Not to worry about the Roasted smell when we drink.

- Coconut Pudding in containers -

Never tried those coconut puddings served with containers thought. The difference are the various flavours that we can have! Corn, Pandan, Mangoes, Yam and Original flavour.

- SLURP!! -

Teresa felt refreshed after having those Coconuts! Mmmm~~~ Yummy!

- Me and Teresa -

Awesome travel journey of hers within 70 days from the start until her trips in Sabah. :) Love reading her blog which flooded with images.

After a short break, we continued our road trip to.....

- Karambunai Beach! -

Illegally drove in to chalet compound to see the best view of the Bay/ Beach.

Unpolluted beach area for sure, compared with cleanliness of Tanjung Aru Beach in town, there's far difference.

- Clear Sky and White Sandy Beach -

Took a deep breath at the beach and three of us camwhored before we leaved that beautiful beach! Teresa told us that in Canada, their can't find such a beach, their beach is covered with rocks. -_- That's not a good sign for a beach. No wonder Ang Mo love our tropical lifestyle here. :)

Completed our mission of having our nice dessert and visiting to Karambunai beach and Lagoon Park, we make a move and bringing Teresa to try our local tea session! Dumplings and Satays and meet up with my parents!!!

:)
